  • Issac Davis Trail

    April 16, 2021 - April 19, 2021  

    The trail is seven miles long and takes 2-3 hours to cover. It begins at the home of Captain Davis where the original Minutemen met, and ends at the Old North Bridge in Concord. Most of the route is on paved road and only small stretches are cross-country. Most of the trail is open year round and may be hiked at any time, however there are small sections that are through private property and are only accessible during Independence Day and Patriot's Day celebration periods. A map is available for download [PDF]. There are many historical markers along the way, providing for am excellent review of one of the most important days in our Nation's history.

    Some of the trail is over private land, so be courteous and clean is important for the continued use of the trail. Participation in the hiking of the trail in no way obligates Isaac Davis Trail Committee, its sponsors, or the Boy Scouts of America in case of accident or injury.

    Mount Monadnock, or Grand Monadnock, is a 3,165 ft (965 m) mountain in the towns of Jaffrey and Dublin, New Hampshire. It is the most prominent mountain peak in southern New Hampshire and is the highest point in Cheshire County. It lies 38 miles (61 km) southwest of Concord and 62 miles (100 km) northwest of Boston. At 3,165 feet (965 m), Mount Monadnock is nearly 1,000 feet (305 m) higher than any other mountain peak within 30 miles (48 km) and rises 2,000 feet (610 m) above the surrounding landscape. It is known for being featured in the writings of Ralph Waldo Emerson and Henry David Thoreau.

    The Zoar Gap trip meets at our base in Charlemont, Massachusetts.Trips take place on the Fife Brook section of the Deerfield River in Northwestern Massachusetts. Both full and half day trips include class II & III whitewater.
    Full day trips start at Fife Brook Dam and finish at our base camp in Charlemont, MA. The trip usually takes 6 hours, including registration, transportation to the river, swimming stops, a picnic lunch served on the river, and a slide show of your run through the biggest rapid.
